The detective investigates when a seemingly beloved resident of a coastal community is fatally driven off the road, and realises she has to dig up the victim's past to have any chance of unmasking the killer. Joined by her faithful team, including DC Kenny Lockhart and new recruit DC Jac Williams, Vera attempts to find the missing link that will crack the case, but finds it difficult to get to the truth when everyone they encounter seems to be protecting a secret. Crime drama based on Ann Cleeves' series of novels, starring Brenda Blethyn.
