Community spirit in the village of Morton Fendle is dealt a blow by the collapse of a craft centre in which many locals had invested - and Alan Hollingsworth, the businessman behind the project, has become a public hate figure. Barnaby investigates when Hollingsworth's wife disappears, and seems to have been kidnapped. However, when Hollingsworth is subsequently murdered and his wife reappears safe and sound, he suspects an elaborate scheme. Roger Allam guest stars.
