The number of players in the field was extended from 24 to 32, but the competition is likely to be as fierce as ever, with the 16 remaining players battling it out for places in the quarter-final. Gerwyn Price's defence of the title came to an end in round two last year when he suffered a shock 6-4 defeat at the hands of Keegan Brown.
